It’s true that our mission at Sofology is to help people feel at home on a sofa they love - but this is just a small part of a bigger picture. Climate change is a very real concern for everyone who lives on this planet and, as a responsible retailer, we’re dedicated to taking every possible step to reduce the environmental impact of our business. We pledge to regenerate resources, all whilst continuing to help you feel at home.

Planting trees with the Woodland Trust

We’re planting trees, in partnership with the Woodland Trust. Planting trees is one of the best ways to tackle our climate crisis. To be carbon neutral by 2050, the UK needs 1.5 billion new trees (that’s 50 million trees a year!). PlanTree can help us to make a real difference, supporting the Woodland Trust in their efforts to restore our native woodlands and protect wildlife habitats.

Together, we’re planting 68 hectares of woodland. Thank you

Together, we’ve helped schools and communities across the UK plant almost 485,000 trees!

Thanks to our customers' support, since partnering with the Woodland Trust in 2020, we’ve funded the planting of nearly 485,000 trees. This achievement has been made possible through our support for the Woodland Trust’s Free Trees for Schools and Communities scheme, which creates green spaces where they are needed most, and inspires the next generation to plant and care for trees. We support the Woodland Trust's aims to ensure everyone in the UK has the chance to plant a tree.

These trees provide spaces where people and wildlife can thrive, creating vital habitats for  fungi, insects, birds, and countless small mammals.

Taking care of the environment – this home to all of us – is a passion shared by our colleagues and customers and we continue to look at ways to minimise our impact on the world around us.

Thank you for helping us grow a greener future, one tree at a time. Together, we’re making a lasting difference to the environment.

It all started with Green Friday

It all started with Green Friday

We always make sure that our prices are fair, so, whatever time of year you shop you’ll get the best price we can offer. That’s why, in 2019, we first decided to turn Black Friday green and celebrate with a deal that would benefit the whole planet by planting trees for every order. We partnered with the Woodland Trust and planted almost 2 hectares of new woodland, thanks to our customers! The success led to a permanent reforestation initiative with the Woodland Trust and PlanTree was created.

Our PlanTree initiative funds the planting of trees through the Woodland Trust’s funded tree pack scheme, enabling schools and communities who are passionate about creating and restoring woodlands to plant trees. In 2024, the Woodland Trust provided 953,625 trees to schools and community groups. It is estimated that these trees have the potential to sequester approximately 238,405 tonnes Co2e (Co2 equivalent) over 100 years.

Not only do trees play an important part in tackling the climate crisis, but the natural world provides a place of sanctuary and wellbeing for many. Nature is good for all of us and we’re proud to support an initiative that encourages and creates green spaces for the benefit of communities and wildlife.

          Let’s talk trees

We caught up with Sofology Marketing Director Jan Duckworth and Pip Borrell, Head of Partnerships at the Woodland Trust to talk about all things trees. Watch the full video below:

          Why we love trees
